14 Spiders

Today Katy was reading about the mother mud wasp and how it makes its nest and provides food for her babies.

After we finished reading we went outside and we looked at a mud wasp nest that I had noticed the other day outside our front door.  We got to look at the various shades of dirt and see an incomplete room.  There was also a complete room, so I took the nest off the wall and carefully broke the end of it so we could look inside.  I think the first thing that dumped out was the baby wasp.  Then we counted the spiders that came out of it.  There were 14 spiders inside one room to feed one baby wasp before it would hatch.  God created mother wasps to know how to take care of their babies even when they don't stay around to watch them grow up.

Katy wasn't real thrilled looking at the spiders, she went inside crying even though I had explained that they couldn't hurt her.

After I came back inside she came and asked me if she could have a mud wasp coloring page.  When I found a picture of a wasp that she could color she ran off with it happily to color it brown just like the mud wasps we have observed around here.

My Memories Suite - Review and Giveaway

 This giveaway is now closed.

Have you ever spent time at one of the picture making kiosks at Walmart or the Drug store, putting your pictures into pages to make a book?  I have, it takes quite a bit of time, and I haven't gotten it to look quite like I want, but I go with it anyway.  Besides the fact that my kids are getting very antsy by the time I finish, I am wishing there is some way to do the same thing easier.

I recently found a great solution.  I've been trying out a digital scrap-booking software called My Memories Suite.  I've been having fun arranging my pictures into various pages and adding embellishments and other fun things.  I can save them as JPEG files or make digital albums.  It doesn't take long and you can just take your photos and drop them into a pre-made template or you can completely design your own.  You can purchase more templates and embellishments and stuff to use for scrap-booking or look for free things to add to My Memories Suite from their online store.  I feel these additions are priced fairly as if you were purchasing them for real scrap-booking, but they can be used over and over as you desire.

There are other options to use My Memories Suite, too.  You can make a calendar, add video to your album and make your pages interactive.  You can also design your own album or pages and upload them to My Memories to be printed and bound if you don't want to print or bind your own.

My Memories has offered to give one of my readers My Memories Suite for FREE!  If you would like a chance to win please visit My Memories and tell me which digital scrap-booking kit is your favorite in the comments.  I will put everyone's name in a hat and have one of my kids pick the winner on Friday, August 26th.

*I was given a free copy of My Memories Suite.  The review and opinions are mine.
